Think he is a bit of an artist with this, he has a great ear and also feel this is his definitely his best work so far. The images have gotten more focussed and compelling from left to right and front to back and all the bits in between. With the bass I'm not sure if there is any more extension but think he has really managed to nail the coherency and dynamic linearity so that everything is delightfully in time giving a more intense and upbeat assertive musicality. The action has clearly moved forward and is more involving. The depth has come in a bit and is probably a bit closer to being more naturally proportioned. I'll try it tomorrow with my BADA DAC, as I use the iZotope SRC with that. If anything, I think he has pulled out even more detail - and he was already ahead of the pack here anyway. The phase response is a bit different, I think. Soundstage has changed quite noticeably - increased lateral separation but less depth.

Personally, I don't believe there is a difference between Apple Lossless and AIF or WAV. Warmer, more bass, more open, and great separation. I didn't really like the sound of the previous version. I had planned on trying Audirvana once I get my feet wet some more but maybe I should just jump in now. That's with latest version of Pure Music running the show. Have not A/B with my BDP-1 but I'm very impressed so far. 350 hours of burning in so far and not a single hiccup from any of the components.
